HP Adopt Transphorm’s SuperGaN into New 65W Adapter

Chargerlab have released a teardown of the HP 65W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter that revealing that HP have designed the SuperGaN Gen IV TP65H300G4LSG 650V GaN FET from Transphorm into the adapter. This GaN power adapter is compatible with both laptops and smartphones.

Adoption by a tier one company is a good indicator of Transform’s place in the low power adapter market and it is likely that more of Transphorm’s components will be included in other designs. SAR Insight & Consulting covers the GaN power adapter market as a part of it’s wider USB Power & Charging service, predicting that this type of USB-C power adapter will be one of the main driving forces behind the adoption of GaN technology in the power adapter market.
