Powercast and Powermat partner to create first one-stop-shop to deliver wireless power ranging from SmartInductive to RF at 120ft

Powercast and Powermat are partnering to create a team capable of implementing both Powermat’s short-range hybrid inductive/resonance technology and Powercasts long-range RF-based wireless power technology. This team is intended to support clients from proof of concept through prototyping and on to production, a similar business model to Nucurrent, a company specialising in both inductive and NFC wireless power transfer. With the expertise to provide both short and long-range wireless power solutions, this team will be able to help its clients from the first steps and advise them on which style of wireless power transfer is best suited to their needs.

Both Powercast and Powermat have been involved in the wireless power market for more than 10 years, as such this team will have a great amount of hands-on expertise. A team that can provide both inductive and RF power transfer may influence its client’s decision on which solution is best, ensuring that solutions are optimised for the purpose. There may also be some hybrid applications in the future that could take advantage of both modes of power transfer in different scenarios. SAR Insight & Consulting covers the wireless power market across many applications including both inductive and long-distance wireless power in its Wireless Power and Charging Technologies service.
