Infineon Technologies AG and GaN Systems Inc. have announced that they have signed an agreement under which Infineon will acquire GaN Systems. Both Infineon and GaN Systems currently offer a range of GaN (Gallium Nitride) based High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs) that are used in many applications of power electronics and are a quickly growing segment of the market.
GaN Systems is one of the top providers of GaN components in the power adapter market, and this purchase will slingshot Infineon to become one of the biggest players in this market.
