This article and its source refer to rumours that the iPhone 15 Pro will abandon its use of a solid state button with haptic feedback. The use of this type of virtual button has been expected for a few years and SAR discussed this in its haptics focused research (see Haptics Hardware).
If the rumours are true, this will lead to a revision of the haptic forecast in our research in the short term, but we still see this as a necessary technology in future smartphones and a major driver of growth for both haptics actuators and drivers markets.
While this type of blog may be harmful to the share price of those suppliers linked to news such as Cirrus Logic, AAC Technologies and Luxshare ICT, it is considered a short-term blip in an otherwise increasing market.
