Wireless power transfer is an ideal application for GaN based solutions as one of their main challenges is efficiency, especially as the airgap between transmitter and receiver increases. GaN’s higher switching speed allows for fewer switching losses and therefore higher efficiency, enabling more of the transmitted power to be used. PowerShpyr’s technologies cover a range of wireless power technologies including inductive charging and RF transmission. It will be of interest to see how and where GaN solutions can be applied to accelerate adoption of the different technologies.
